Kauf Nix Tag in Austria

Vienna, Austria - On October 10 we had our first coordinative-meeting for "Kauf Nix Tag" in Vienna. We will meet at 25th November at 10.00am on a famous shopping-highway (Mariahilferstrasse). The exact meeting point will be fixed during the next coordinative meeting (date see below).

We decided some "rules" for our activites of BND2000, so that all who want to join our celebrations as activists have the possibility to get to know our intentions easily:

The organistion-group is called: "Kauf Nix Tag - Aktionsgruppe", which is formed just for the BND every year. No other group (NGO,NPO,...) will be named as organizer or co-organizer.

We will not hand out leaflets, folders or anything like that, which is on (bought and) printed paper. Like the years before we will just hand out (waste)-paper with "kauf nix" (buy nothing) or "take a rest - buy nothing" in different languages (hand)written on it. In addition to that we will design (self- )adhesive labels with the text "100% cheaper" on it. (In Austria many supermarkets use 25 or 50% labels for products, which are near the expiry-date.) This labels will given just to passerbys which are BND-fans.

We will have an information desk with fixed information material. The material will be adbusters-stuff. Other material must be decided by the group (consensously).

The number of activists at one place shall not be bigger than about 10. Growing bigger means that we will separate, otherwise it would be too big, too offensive, too difficult for the passerbys to open up themselves for our invitation/strange ideas...

We will have: Sandwichboards, A "Kauf Nix Song", Santa Claus costumes, jonglage and other artist-activities, Flipchart with songtext and info, deck chairs (for santa clauses and passerbys for having a rest).
